Hi David
No worries, hope Andy gets well soon.
Safe journey to you both.

All is now set up and ready for you all, I could be wet early on but it should brighten up as the day goes on.

Trevor and Anne, thank you so much for a warm welcome warm soup and the company of all that attended.

Smile Scottish meet- three cheers for Trevor and Anne

A wonderful day at Trevor's, a fantastic turn out from near and far and not even the Scottish weather could dampen this event. It was great to be able to meet the faces behind the forum names, and the world was put to rights on many subjects. Anne kept up the Scottish tradition of hospitality with food and drink for all throught the day while M.C. Trevor entertained with his eclectic collection and tales from the TV trade. Star of the show (appart from our hosts) was the pre-war Ecko that Fernesh brought along. Trevor was able to cure it's focus problem with one deft application of the soldering iron! Sorry about the quality of the attached pics, I'm sure others who attended will post better ones. Once again many thanks to Trevor and Anne for a great day.

Like David and Mark I'd like to add a very big thank you to Trevor and Anne.
The weather on the week leading up to the event had been excellent but decided to change not long after we all gathered but Trevor's preparations with gazebos and heaters keep everyone warm and dry and Anne must have spent a lot of time preparing a wonderful supply of tastey home made soups, sandwiches, cakes and biscuits, not to mention pots of tea and coffee to keep our stomaches happy.

Needless to say the V310 was displaying a superb picture complete with nicely defined 3Mhz bars. None of my pictures do justice to any of his sets but I don't think any of them was displaying less than 2.5Mhz and that included his amazing Decca 1000. Until today my impressions of the MW6-2 and its optics box of tricks has been limited to my parent's Philips 1400A which displayed poor (non-existent) d.c. restoration, poor flyback blanking, poor contrast, poor linearity and poor focus. By contrast Trevor's 1000 was
a revelation to me in that it displayed none of these faults The squint test card image in the next post is of the 1000's picture projected on a 3 foot wide screen. Again the photo doesn't do justice to the sharpness of the actual image.

The day was full of little highlights. David Boynes little pre-war Ekco gave beautiful results after the focus pot had its end connections swapped and when we were sitting enjoying tea and biscuits in the gazebo Trevor appeared holding his Perdio portable displaying another beautiful Test Card C despite having no cable connection to anything! Lest this event be thought dominated by tellys an enquiry about the gram deck of Trevor's RGD/Quad radiogram resulted in a perfect transcription of "Run Rabbit Run".

All in all a really great meeting and nice to put a few more faces to names.

Peter

Yes I also thoroughly enjoyed the day. TVs were particularly good. I might have to get one. Great to meet other people with similar interests and put faces to names on the forum. Trevor and Anne put a great deal of work into this and I can only thank them. Hope this is the first of many more meetings up here.

Regards,

Ken.

Guess by now folk ken I couldn't make it. Anne & I got as far down as Aberdeen but had to turn back - car overheating. On further inspection - heaps of bubbles blasting up through coolant resevoir - am guessing cyl head gasket is tracking between a pot & the water jacket.
However, the pics show a great Swap-Meet. Tons of gratitude to Trevor & Anne. Lets hope we can all get together again soon. I'd have loved to have seen the pre-war ekco, plus all the other great gear.
David(Hamish Boxer) tells me he's given a CD of a Ferranti 145 Screen copy to someone to pass on to me. Guess it'll turn up in a day or so.
My miserable day was compounded by finding my poorly Ferret dead in his cage this morning, after we returned.
Alex - shall try & get the TV down to you, as arranged. Sorry for the delay.
Have depleted the Glava bottle by an inch or two since sitting down to watch the Grand Prix at 5.

Best Regards to all who turned up, David

Regarding today's Scottish meet:

Permission to shout "Hurrah" at an annoyingly loud volume.

Rats! I missed out on that demo. If I'd known about it I would have been interested to have seen that - not even having started work on my own Decca 1000.

I would agree that it was a most enjoyable day - many thanks to Trevor and Anne - and to everyone else who contributed to the enjoyment of the day.

Mark's comment about his return journey reminds me of a curious fact about my own journey. Having worked out actual driving time (i.e. after subtracting pit stops), it took me 2 hours 40 minutes to get from W. Cumbria to Kilmarnock on nearly empty roads, and almost exactly the same time time on the return journey having spent much of the time sat behind slow-moving vehicles - work that one out!

Hello Everyone.
It was a wonderful day, the weather could have been better though, but the turnout was excellent and it was really good to meet with new people.
Anne worked really hard and hopefully everyone was catered for ok. I think I had mixed up a soup order but my waitress skills are not so good
The 1938 Ekco brought up by "Fernseh" was brilliant but sadly the Kilmarnock police could not confiscate it as contraband (drat).
Thanks to every one that came and the home baking and biscuits brought along.
I am sure we will do it again next year but in the summertime.
Thanks yet again to all and the kind wishes.
Bye for now from Trevor & Anne

Got back, had a sleep and now on here. Superb day Trevor! When's the next one. Thanks to your wife too.

I might get that 819 set out and modify a computer to drive it.

Nice to meet people off the forum etc etc...

Cheers,
