Default Solihull TV Junk-Swap - NEW DATE Saturday 14th July 2012

Hi everyone.

I was thinking that it was time for another come-and-swap-your-TV-junk-for-other-TV-junk in Solihull. It has been fantastic in previous years and lots of TV related rubbish has changed hands. If you'd like to come along then just turn up on Saturday the 7th of January 2012 clutching any TV junk you may have (or none if you just want to take other people's junk away). If you want to bring a packet of biccies, bread, sausage rolls or anything else then that would be excellent too - Last time we had a huge amount of food and that ended up being swapped too.

There will be plenty of food, tea, coffee, beer on hand all day and a pub-visit at lunch time. There is a workshop upstairs and a dining-table downstairs if anyone wants to have a go at fixing stuff and draweres full of components too.

I'll be up and about at about 08:00 in the morning and pretty-much people can leave when they want to. (It went on until very late in the evening last time.)

Thanks everyone.

Kind regards.

From Mike.
PS. PM me and I'll let you know address details / phone number etc.

Great idea Mikey, We can all bring the junk we exchanged on our last visit and swap it back again! Very much enjoyed the last meeting and would like to attend the one in January, if it all goes well that is. John.

Great news- count me in!

The last get together was great fun. If there's room I'd quite like to bring my retired tv engineer pal (fully house-trained!) who's not on the internet but I'm sure would love to share a few memories with like-minded people.

Cheers

I'd come along for sure if I didn't live so far away! And would probably fill the car up with old TV sets....

Too early to say if I can get the time off, but please count me in and will confirm nearer the time if I can make it.

Steve Colourstar- would be great for all of us to meet Peter and recruiting him to the team of like minded folk!

Cheers,
Brian

I would like to join in if possible - is there enough room? Let's hope there won't be heavy snow or ice at that time, that could make travelling difficult.
I have some 1970s-80s portable TVs to swap or give away - not sure if they will be vintage enough for you, though at least they don't take up so much space. I also collect large-screen mono TVs from the same 70s-80s period, so if anyone has one to get rid of, I'll be grateful.
The idea of having a go at fixing stuff sounds appealing. Currently I have a 24" HMV 1500 series set in which the CRT has an intermittent O/C cathode. I've read that it's sometimes possible to re-weld it with a blast of EHT, but I'm not brave enough to try it. Perhaps someone has a bit of experience in fixing this fault, or even a spare 24" tube or set they could donate?

Definately put me down Mikey )
An excellent day, if only for the banter and telly repairing.
Plus I need to rehome my orange Indecit

Kind Regards
Dr. Dave

That was very subtle Tas.

You could bring me a pre-war TV if you like.

Hi Mike

My wife is making plans for my (70th) birthday cake. If I bring along the remains can I come along too? Your "do's" are always a highlight for me.

Regards

ALAN
