Default BT 776 Telephone

Hi all.
I noticed the above telephone in my local charity shop today. If anyone is interested it's in St.David's Foundation in Caldicot, south Wales.

Thanks
Richard.

Can be wired to work without external bell as all the transmission components are in the phone.

Ah right.
Thank you for that information. I'll take another look at it this week.
Thanks again
Richard.

Of course, the one thing it won't do stand-alone is to ring on incoming calls.

It's the more desirable blue version of the BT "Compact".

Worth £15 IMHO even without the bell box.

You'd just need a 52A junction box for the end of the original line cord to get that working. (Plus a parallel extension bell if desired.)

GPO/PO Telephone 776 (Compact) and Jubilee Compact

Telephone is wired to standard diagram (N876) but modified as follows:-

Telephone No. 776 and Jubilee without Bellset

Remove strap T2 - T3.
Insert strap T1 - T2.
Blue of line cord to T1.
Red of line cord to T4.
White of line cord to T5.
Green of line cord to T6.

Hi

I had the jubillee year version, I seem to remember that that one
only came in Balmoral (dark) blue.

I also remember you had to pay quite a lot up front to get one,
although it was still only rented.

Kind regards
Dave.

Hi all.
Thanks for the replies.

The telephone isn't my cup of tea but I thought someone here might be interested in it, I collect vintage vcrs so I've got enough junk to be sorting out with those. Haha.

The info is much appreciated though, somebody will definitely find that old phone a welcome addition to their collection.

Cheers all
Richard.
