Default McMichael 808 radio alignment query.

I am finding conflicting IF frequency figures for the McMichael 808 radio.

Broadcaster Service Man's sheet January 1939 quotes 465 kc/s, but Trader sheet #477 27th July 1940 quotes 460 kc/s

I doubt that 5 kc/s would make a whole lot of difference but would like to start out with the correct information.

I can't find a sheet from McMichael themselves.

Hi Sam
I have often found that the Broadcaster sheets seemed to follow more closely the manufacturers service information than the Trader sheets, at least they did for the KB service sheets.
You could do what I did recently, find a known radio station on the dial and check what the local oscillator frequency is on a decent modern radio with digital frequency readout..

Hi Sam

I can only muddy the waters I'm afraid.

According to Radiomuseum it is 460Khz.
https://www.radiomuseum.org/r/mcmichael_808_2.html

But - Appendix 1, "Intermediate Frequencies" in Chase Millar's book "Valve Radio & Audio Repair Handbook" it is 465Khz.

No doubt the above is a reflection of the sources used for information in each case.

I have a book "The Practical Radio Reference Book" - Odhams, edited by Roy C Norris which contains a table of IF frequencies for radios of this period.

The McMichael 808 has an IF of 465 kHz in this publication.

Leon.

Knowing that the Trader sheets did have some errors and that the noble Chas, Odhams and the old Broadcaster all agree on 465kc/s which is a pretty standard IF anyway, I'll go with the majority.
Thanks guys for the input.
Now to see if I can get the handle off and back on again! Some will know the horrors of this set.
