National Quintrix colour TV
Hi, I'm new to this forum as I don't know anything about old TVs.
My family recently found this old telly in an attic, and we know nothing about its value, or whether it's anything special or not. Thank you in advance for helping me with this. I have some pictures of the TV in question: |

Re: National Quintrix colour TV
It's a generic term used by NatPan from 1974. There should be a model number on the
cabinet back that could offer a more positive identification. |

Re: National Quintrix colour TV
I think it was National Panasonic's trademark for their slotted shadowmask competitor to Sony's Trinitron.
I have it's great great grandson, a Quinrix Acuity set sitting in the lounge. I'm afraid it has no significant value. It dates from the beginning of the time when the British consumer moved from buying British sets with familiar names to Japanese ones. The Hitachi and Sony imports were getting a reputation for almost never breaking down, though a restrictive deal limited them to smaller screen sizes. David

Re: National Quintrix colour TV
National/ Panasonic/ Technics/ Matsushita (whatever you wanna call it). Found this image which looks to be the same set from around 1978/9. Looks like it can run off a 12v car battery as well as mains.
Doubt it's worth much these days, but it's far too nice to throw away! I'm sure there are collectors of these portables.

Re: National Quintrix colour TV
It is especially interesting to collectors because it will run on 12V. That was somewhat of a special feature in those days. Very common in B/W sets, not so much in colour sets.
