Go to the pub, find a couple of strong 'builder' chaps, buy the pints after. They would be happy with the weight, 10% over what you can handle seems OK until it gets out of hand.

Funnily enough, I was going to make a similar suggestion except that you should go down to the local gym and ask some muscle bound show-off to demonstrate his enormous strength.

Dont know if this has been mentioned, but I would wrap them in a blanket and tie the corners together at the top, then tie a rope through the blanket and lower away. Most loft ladders will sit vertically giving a clear access to lower to the floor.
A rope round the telly may slip and damage it.

If the situation is a really difficult one I would suggest the hire of this mobile crane from a local company. I loaned them a TV22 to experiment with. Unfortunately it came to grief when the operator pulled the wrong knob. He sent it crashing to the ground resulting in an explosion of Bakelite and broken glass. Worth a try. John.

I managed to rescue Granny from the loft by this method when she got stuck after venturing into the loft in the vain attempt to unearth an old walking stick...J.

You really just need to entice Fernseh to extract them for you. I've seen him lifting 32" CRT colour sets single handed with apparent ease! No kidding.

Hi Peter,
Since my operation two years ago I've set a weight limit to the items I lift. 120lb Samsung Slimfit TVs are out of the question and receivers like the 70lb Racal RA17 are near the limit now.
Good job that cement comes in 25Kg bags now.

Don't bother asking him to lift the set out of the loft.

I've long suspected that the animal glues used in 50s and early 60s tellys are especially "finger lickin' good to woodworm. Had an early 60s Dynatron telly stored under my stairs for a few years and was recently alarmed to find a series of fresh looking woodworm holes with sawdust under them- It was certainty free of infestation when it was put in there and absolutely nothing else was touched.

No, not unless you want him to drop it!

We seem to have explored all possibilities, and more, so I'll close the hatch.
