I have never used a dishwasher to clean a tuning capacitor before firstly because I have never had one so dirty and secondly because we haven't got a dishwasher!! It brought it up beautifully and got rid of all the old oil in the bearings so it now works like new.

The chassis was fairly easy once the tuning capacitor had been removed. I removed the various aluminium cans and carefully masked the rest before spraying it. The results were quite pleasing considering the condition of it when I bought it.
