UPDATE - Batch 1 Posted!

As promised, I gave our local postie a heart attack today when I arrived with a big carrier bag full of envelopes!

So, all sleeves are now winging their ways out to your good selves.

Everyone who has ordered to date has now paid, and has sleeves coming to them.

This means a fresh start for Batch 2! - I still have plenty left, Batch 1 saw about half the stock go.

Many thanks, Scott.

Mine are not here yet but it gave me time to refurb the Hellermann tool my dad bought when he was an electrician 40+ years ago, which he passed on to me. Nice to breath new life into it, new spring, etc.

Hi both,

Dr Wobble - thanks for letting me know, I'm very glad you're happy with them!

Ti Pwun - It's great to see you've resorted such a wonderful tool, and with family history too! I used to use a pair just like this at an old workplace, but now I just have the blue modern equivalent in my kit, much cheaper feeling to use, but does the job at least.

Cheers, Scott

Yes, a great tool indeed. The sleeves just arrived and with a quick spray of lubricant (3-IN ONE White Lithium Grease), all is well. Thanks again. Much appreciated.

Interesting demographic:

Of x 20 orders, 6 were to Dave's!

x 2 Chris's and x 2 Andy's, and the rest were singular names.

Perhaps Dr Seus was on to something!

Cheers, Scott

Mine have arrived too, thanks very much.
I shall be using them with a tool identical to Ti Pwun's, picked up at a car boot sale a while ago.

They are tight on that tool but with lubrication they are fine. I don't have the proper 'Hellerine lubricant' but the spray Lithium grease works well enough.

It's definitely worth getting yourselves some Hellerine oil, as it not nly makes life easier ehrn installing these sleeves, but it's also non-corrosive on your soldered joints.

I'm sue a lot of people will have seen people using saliva for this purpose, trouble is, it's quite corrosive to the soldered joints!

Cheers, Scott

A lot of people will already know, but for those who don't:

A nice way to apply the Hellerine oil is to soak a piece of packing sponge rubber in it (have this in some sort of container / box), then you can just swipe the prongs across it to lubricate them before sliding a sleeve on.

Cheers, Scott.

I would agree - I just don't have any. I do have plenty of the spray Lithium grease, though, which dries to form a protective coating. I use it on external electrical connections (antenna, PV panels, etc.) without any problems, even years later, so I think it's a safe-to-use alternative.
