Default PEN4A valve?

Sorting some stock and I found a PEN4A valve, octal, large glass like a 6V6G

I can find no information on this valve, what is it?
I suspect an output valve but,,,,,, what do I know?

Could it be a PEN44? (Octal but larger spigot than IO)

Try 4V on the heater and see what current results.....

Taken a long look at this valve and decided its a PenA4, dyslexia rules at times.
Its in good order too.

Understand it was an improved Pen4VB which was a poor valve.
Eclipsed by the AC/Pen, a better valve.

The Pen44 has a Mazda Octal base, different pin spacing compared with an International Octal as well as the spigot diameter.

PenA4 is B7 base. No confusion there then!
