Default GPO 700 Series Terminal Strap

Good evening

Does anybody know what the strap between T8 & T9 does? I was always under the impression that the strap should be present but I've seen images on the net of this strap removed on converted 746 telephones. I didn't really question it until I opened up my push button Trimphone & noticed that there was no strap between T8 & T9. I also have a dial Trimphone & the strap is present.

Many thanks.

Hello,

It serves no purpose in phones converted for plug-in operation.

Nick.

It connects the line to one side of the bell capacitor. As the other side (T7) isn't connected to anything after conversion it doesn't matter if the T8-9 strap is there or not.
