Not sure but looks like it could be Monoscope tube
It says developmental on the bit of writing I can see, but you would have to be in the Bodmin, Bude area. On Facebook.

Re: Not sure but looks like it could be TV tube
I think it's this tube at the radio museum, if I've read the number on the label aright. The handwritten date label looks like it says '51', though that link suggests it was from 1957. Perhaps it was in production earlier than their literature reference.

Re: Not sure but looks like it could be TV tube
I have messaged in case the seller can provide some more information. If it is what you suggest, which is a copy of a monoscope which could be of interest to some on here
https://www.tvcameramuseum.org/marconi/bd665/p-9a.html Adrian p.s. just zoomed in on a section of one of the pics and it is a monoscope as there are indications of an image within the end. Last edited by AdrianH; 18th Jan 2021 at 3:53 pm. |

From the corner of the image that's visible, it looks like Test Card "C" or "D" to me.

Re: Not sure but looks like it could be Monoscope tube
It does indeed look like a monoscope tube. The GEC ones were a little larger than the standard RCA/Cathodeon size so it will not fit the Marconi or Pye units.
Nice thing to add to one's collection. Brian |

Re: Not sure but looks like it could be Monoscope tube
Is it possible that the "51" could refer to 'Test Transparency 51' ? I don't know if this was ever available from a Monoscope but it was used as a printed chart as well as a transparency.
For some, totally illogical, reason I always associate this image with the "Sailing By" music played before the late shiping forecast and the hand-over to the World Service. PMM |
