Default Equipment in my Dad's shed. Identity and value?

Hi,

My Dad has recently gone into a care home and is bed ridden and unable to see / hear fully. He worked at 30MU, RAF Sealand for many years as a radar/radio repair technician and has been keen on amateur radio for most of his life. In his shed there are quite a few old, I think ex-military, sets that we need to get rid of before my Mum moves to a pensioners bungalow.
I will try to attach photo's of this equipment with a view to maybe some one being able to give us a value of the equipment. If there is anyone interested I can get more photo's within a day or two.

I will upload more photo's in further threads
Regards,
Geoff

There is some very nice stuff here inc test equipment a variac a nice HRO receiver etc.
This all has a decent value please do not dump it.

You can of course offer it on the forum BUT you need to state excact price. If doubtful make it collection only possibly on Ebay and get the best possible price.

I persionally would make an offer for one or two pieces but a pending house move will not allow me.

The HRO will fetch at least £200 possibly more as there is a power supply and possibly a box of coils.

The variac at least £40 possibly more subject to rating.

The Eddystone £100 plus.

Hi Geoff,
Sorry to hear of your situation.

To help you piece things together the items in the vertical shelving in the background of photographs
IMG_1369a.jpg to IMG_1371a.jpg are the coil sets that belong to the HRO set
in photo IMG_1380a.jpg.
If any of these have a graph in both the right hand and left hand windows they are bandspread types and are more valuable than those with a single graph in the left hand window.
Scaning Ebay I see that in one sale 4 coils, 2 bandspread and 2 standard coils went for £62 .

I think the best approach would be to list it all and get an idea of a value of each item from Ebay sold listings, some of these items will be very heavy and fragile so postage is a big consideration, and to take your time unless pressed to clear.

Best wishes
Pete

Geoff, Pictures 14 & 15 look like a Marconi TF995A & a Marconi CT436 Signal Generators. Similar HF/VHF ranges, but the CT436 is just AM I think.
You'll know obviously, but many wont - 30MU RAF Sealand(outside Chester) was the major Avionics 3rd Line Maintenance Unit in the RAF. A massive factory-like base employing many hundreds of RAF guys, and civilians(many ex RAF). I particularly remember the ARC52/PTR175 line.
The CT436 & its bigger sibling - the CT394B(TF801B) would have adorned many a workbench.
What has happened to Sealand, by the way ?

Regards, David

Went for an interview at RAF Sealand back in the 1960's it was quite a hard one including practical work, several weeks on I'd heard nothing so I arranged for another job, a week or so after starting that a job a letter came through our letterbox...Guess what

I remember the workshop, could eat your dinner off the floor, the used proper components too

The gear in the photo's is worth saving or passing on for sure.

Lawrence.

Good morning,
I would be interested in the 2 Tektronix oscilloscopes if they are still available.
Many thanks,
Christopher Capener
