I used an old sony cammera which used transistors and not ics as transistor types are more easily tweaked about!.
the cammera used A conventonal line oscilator curcuit.
That turned down to 405 whith the aid of A screwdriver.
I had to adjust the line shift to get the image right.
The cammera isnt locked to A sync generator so seems
quite happy.
I also built A video amp stage to change the video negative !.
Im using A normal portable tv as the source monitor.
The setup isnt ideal but was all that was available at the time .
I believe the pye linx cammeras are easily converted.
If not already 405 .
Does anyone know of any other cammeras suitable
for conversion to 405 ? thay would have to be discrete
construction ( no ics in the timebase ).

The Pye Lynx is a good bet, a lot of then are dual standard, but check before you buy! They used to be very common at UK radio rallies, so you may want to try an advert in the amateur radio press.

Hallo Danny, I modified my Sony AVC-3250CE for
DUAL STANDARD, also the viewfinder.
I also builded a scan converter with delay lines used in
drop out compensators of vcr's. This analog method
is much easyer than digital converters and the IC's
are avalibel.

I would like to congratulate Darius on building an analogue standards converter. In my article in BVWS Bulletin 27/3 I dismissed analogue standards conversion in a few words as an impractical option. I know it's technically feasible using the original BBC switched capacitor method but that is massively complex. CCD delay lines, as used a few timebase correctors many years ago would also do the job. I had not thought of using VCR DOC bits.
