the transformer for 240V for europe. A single pole switch in live mains is not ideal but that's
how it is.
So if I bought the snubber, is it a straight fit....no additional stuff to add?
Yes correct.

Yes thats the culprit, remove and replace. When you fit the new part slide some
insulation over the wires (e.g. remove from a surplus piece of wire) and you do not
have to cut the new wires short.

To prove that capacitor is shorted, just cut one of its leads.
With the unit unplugged obviously.
It's only there to stop audible clicker when the micro switch operates.

It also reduces short range interference to AM radio and VHF television.

Fantastic advice and help.

Where will I get another part?
Will it be the exact same part or different.

If its different will it go onto the same position or will there be others to add?

Clipped it.....and its working the way it should work.

Omg......you guys are fantastic.

So, with it being cut, does it need to be replaced or do I need to fit a new one?

What are the issues if I leave it cut without replacing it?

I would use the part I suggested in #13. Without it there may be an annoying click on
the sound or nearby radios - like a fridge thermostat switching off.

So...the stubber component.
Which way would it need to be soldered in?

A £1.35 part and they want £13+ including shipping....omg lol

That's expense.
Maybe someone has something they can send you
Even a capacitor on it's own.

They want a tenner just for handling.

I'm not tight but I hate getting ripped off.

They say there a UK based company/hub and I'm in the UK

I totally understand.
I'm admin on a car forum and we work with the exact same principles.....I know its different but you get to know who to deal with and who not to.
You only get out of a forum from what you put in.

Thanks once again to you sir and to everyone who has helped me with this topic.

It's very much appreciated.
