Default Jayem scope

While digging through the filing cabinet looking for info re another thread on this forum, I came across a user manual for a Jayem oscilloscope.

Model either 555 or 655.

The front page is a bit hard to read while most of the text in the rest of it is ok(ish), the question is, before I go scanning the rest of it, is it of any use to anyone here?

Front page, which is the worst, attached to give you an idea of what it is like. I've had to make it fairly dark to bring the text up.

Oh, and it is possible I have the actual scope as well hiding somewhere in the shed.

No use to me, Terry, but I did google "Jayem oscilloscope" just out of curiosity. The best I could turn up was this page from "Electronics Australia", and advert for test gear in 1969. It shows the Jayem 555.

Obscure! (Well it is to folks in the UK....)

Never heard of Jayem before, not sure if they were ever sold here in the Uk.

However, that said, I think it is important to save any documentation from Vintage Equipment.
The more obscure the equipment is, the more important it is to save copies.

Might not be of any use to anybody right now, but for sure, somebody will pick
up one of these Oscilloscopes in the future and be looking for information on it.

A User Manual is always useful.

I see Jayem were made by Kikusui. In which case this page of Kikusui manuals might mean the manual you have Terry - is already available for download, which might save you some bother....!

Faint, but that front page has Sydney at the bottom of the page.

Thanks, saves a bit of scanning - I have something it doesn't have - the schematic.

From memory, Jayem were importers, who "badge engineered" a lot of stuff from Japanese companies.

I remember, sometime in the early 1960s, we received an oscilloscope at Atkins (WA) Ltd, which may have been a Jayem.
It was similar in appearance to the early Telequipment Serviscope, but was a bit "taller".

A rather clever trick it used was that one of the valves was mounted horizontally, with the "pip" protruding through a hole in the front panel.
The filament glow served as an "on" light!

Neat "trick", until somebody knocks the pip off
