First attempt at a R707 restoration
My first attempt at restoring a Roberts R707 Radio.
I found a suitable donor radio on the eBay. Decided to re cover it in black as per original. The original badge in the centre was missing so purchased a gold scroll badge, even though it's not as per original I think it looks OK. All electronics work fine, had to repair the telescopic aerial. |

Re: First attempt at a R707 restoration
Thanks for replies.
On the R707s has anyone noticed that on the later model (badge on left side) the extension antenna socket is always rusty or corroded where on the pre 1972 model (centre badge) it’s always perfect chrome. I wonder why? Thought I’d make a Roberts Tag for it too just to add the finishing touches. Again it’s nothing like the original, just my own design. |

Re: First attempt at a R707 restoration
Looks great , I think this is one of their best sounding models and uses fairly easy to obtain lantern batteries . Super job on the covering , did you have to do the module ? mine could do with a cosmetic revamp , any hints as to where you got the fabric ? Regards, Tim
