Default Hacker RP36 Aerial

I have a RP36 where the short ferrite rod used on the SW3 range is missing - the coils are present not the rod.

Will an ordinary LW\MW rod be OK (its 4in long) or as the maximum frequency is just over 4MHz will a different grade of ferrite be required?
