Re: 1930’s HMV coffee table radio
The West Coast Sound became popular in the 1950's, over there at least, courtesy of T Bone Walker https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2eriK3nD4bQ
and the likes, he was a Texan but ended up in LA in the 1940's. Stormy Monday was released in 1947, T Bone Walker. Lawrence. Last edited by ms660; 10th Dec 2016 at 2:31 pm. |

Re: 1930’s HMV coffee table radio
It would be good if that particular radio got a thorough and skilled cabinet overhaul and refurbishment- as a rather nice emblem of 'thirties technology and wealth, it's as worthy of it as any piece of furniture or artwork. Note that I mean cosmetic, rather than working order level- that would involve rather too many PAT, insurance, fire, COSHH, etc, etc questions for a public display piece. "Shabby chic" doesn't really suit the setting and might just mean it gets skipped one day....
