Default HMV 2022 record player

Hi all
I have the above record player and was wondering what diode I can use to replace the FC142 rectifier
The player sounds fine for about 10 mins then the sound goes tinny then the pilot light starts to flicker and then the sound breaks up altogether
I took a reading from it and I'm getting around 30v from it

Any help would be great
Ben

That looks like a selenium bridge rectifier. Should be replaceable by a suitable silicon bridge rated for 800V plus a series resistor of 200R 5W or thereabouts.

Could use four 1N4007 on a tagstrip but some sort of chassis mount module probably more convenient and will have its own tags to hang wires and resistors from.

There is a thread where a member "restuffed" one of these, but I'm struggling to hit the right search term. Someone will probably recall it.

If the output voltage is reasonably steady for the first few mins then gradually diminishes check the ECL86 for grid current and the associated triode anode to pentode G1 capacitor for leaks. The smoothing capacitors are well worth checking.
The rectifier may well not be at its best but the reduction in voltage after 10 mins needs further investigation.

Hi
Thankyou for your kind replies
The smoothing can needs replacing as there is a background hum and 2 470k resistors also need replacing as they have almost doubled in value! I'm also going to change the 25uf also. I've ordered the parts so just waiting for them to arrive
