Default Yaesu FT-707 “no crystal” 11m mod

The obvious way to get the radio onto 11m is to change the band crystals, which are available but expensive. This mod appears to pad the VFO so it runs 5-6.3Mhz instead of 5-5.5Mhz. There's a YouTube video in Spanish but cant find any more info on how its done. Is anyone knowledgable on this particular mod please ?

Can't help directly with the mod but maybe if you open the youtube video in a browser and play the audio through the speakers, open another browser on the same machine and use its microphone and a speech-to-text service to listen to the foreign speech and translate it to English text? Or use a smartphone, if you have one, for the second job.

Managed to find a sommerkamp ft-767 for a fair price. Its a rebadged 707 with the narrow cw filter fitted. It was absolutely filthy so its been stripped and decontaminated. Its got a nice quiet receiver on it. Sat it next to its big brother for a photoshoot. Need some wire up in the aur now

Oh and good idea on the translation idea. I may actually build an external vfo so I dont have to mod the radio. IIRC there was one in short wave magazine amongst other 707 related projects

Noted. 11m receive only for openings checking. Been checking it on tx tonight, 150 watts on 80m, 120 watts on all other bands, and pulled brazil in on a piece of wire thrown down the garden. Id bought it off someone who was splitting a sk sale job lot up, and dropped the sk sale seller a message and got this back. This is why we get sentimental about old radios

I can't think of any current commercial multi band ham transceiver that does not offer
general coverage receive.
