After building The Hedghog L converter I seen that there was a decent number of the EP2C5T144C8N FPGA after coming into stock at various suppliers. This is the same FPGA that is in the development board used in the Hedghog I converter. So I set about building the Hedghog III converter using the EP2C5T144C8N FPGA.
It is for the most part a Hedghog I converter. It has not got the pedestal function or the ability to chose the number of lines used by the interpolator. This is set at 6 lines. Unlike the Hedghog I it can be used as a modulator only and makes full use of the modulator chips. Which are fully programmable using the rotary encoders and LCD display. When building the Hedghog II the EP4CE6E22C8N FPGA was chosen. It was a no-brainer as it was newer, more powerful and cost less than the EP2C5T144C8N. At the time who would have ever thought that in just a few years the EP4CE6E22C8N would be difficult to obtain while the EP2C5T144C8N is still in supply. The files required to build it can be found on my website. Frank

Wow! Another Frank C masterpiece. What a neat layout. I'm sure I will succumb to one shortly. Will Freya be doing ready-built ones?
Superb job. all best Jeremy

Thanks Both.
Jeremy I am sure Freya will be offering ready built ones. As far as I understand he is tooling-up for them. Frank
