Default Sony C5 stopped ejecting and now doesn’t load

Hi guys,

Are there anyone that still repair these machines? My C5 was working very well and the picture quality is very good. At the moment, it rewinds and forwards, but when I press eject the motor is very quiet, which is unusual. I was watching something just now and pressed eject. Tape loader didn’t eject and managed to force it to get my tape out. The tape was snapped so I have to repair the tape.

Now, I have to slam the loader for it to stay down. When you put a tape inside the tape doesn’t load.

Don’t know what happened and I’m very disappointed.

Eject and tape loader not working.

Possibly belt trouble. Stretched?

Did you remove the tape with the loading ring in the loaded position?

Is it easy to change belts?

I removed the tape and the tape wasn’t fully unlaced. There was tape stuck and I just pulled it.

I had the same problem last month when a tape refused to eject. I managed to get it ejected after 15 attempts. I just switched the machine on and off. I thought it was a dodgy tape, but realised there’s a problem.

That sounds like the loading belt is slipping. Order a belt kit from here:

If you have other tapes and this has snapped - then bin it- a repaired tape can knock chips out of the aging and now very precious video heads..
