Default Telefunken M5

I won the following item which I think is rather interesting.

http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.d...ayphotohosting

The recorder is unusual in a few ways, the head block is the wrong way around which resembles the first AEG Magnetaphon recorders, but it would appear no coincidence. I see Telefunken and AEG come up quite often, is the new AEG of today the same company and does Telefunken have something to do with the old AEG recorders? does anyone know when this was built? any info would be great.
