Default NAD 6155 and 6325 Cassette Decks

I'm in the process of piecing together an 80's NAD system, I've just bought for very little the two tape decks above, both in need of TLC and new main drive belts. First question, does anyone know how the NAD numbering system works? I'm assuming from looking at the two decks the 6155 is older but a higher spec deck? Does anyone have a preference as to which one they would invest time in?

Also does anyone know the size of the main drive belts, as if I buy one for the specific deck it seems to be far more expensive than if I just order on size.
If anyone knows the size of the belts on both decks, and can recommend a supplier it would be much appreciated.

Many Thanks.

Sorry that I cannot offer you any input to your questions, but by way of "moral support", I own a 7020 receiver bought around 1986 which works absolutely perfectly (it's in daily use) and a 6325 cassette deck bought second-hand, which is excellent apart from one slight quirk. Some cassettes, are not 'detected' when slotted in unless I put a strip or two of sellotape along the back of them - this is true even when the tags are still in place.

Other than that, both units are, IMHO, fine bits of kit! Somebody will be along soon to say that the switch-gear and connectors are, allegedly, troublesome.

There's no reason why you shouldn't fit a generic belt. Even if you buy a specific belt kit for the deck, it's extremely unlikely to be from the same OEM manufacturer as the original. Using a different belt may theoretically affect the W&F performance, but in practice it makes no difference if the belt dimensions are the same. In fact you should be able to fit a slightly narrower belt if the original width is difficult to find in the correct length.

CPC have a range of generic belts which only cost a pound or two:

This site has instructions for sizing belts (it's American so all the sizes are in inches): https://www.studiosoundelectronics.com/beltmeas.htm

Vintagecassette has basic info:

https://www.vintagecassette.com/nad/6155,
https://www.vintagecassette.com/nad/6325

The 6155 appears to be the better deck (it has HX-Pro) but is a bit older.

Hi,
Thanks for this, I have just restored a VERY sad 7130 receiver, that is not and never going to be the best cosmetically ,but now working perfectly, with the help of people on here, I have a pair of Monitor Audio R25s and a pair of B&W DM100 speakers, to pair with it.
Dual 506 TT and whilst it would be nice to add a NAD CD I have a Sony CDP227 ESD that I have a soft spot for to complete the system.
