Default Stills used on ITV in 1950s/early 60s

Good morning
I wonder if anyone could help me
I'm looking for stills used on ITV Trade Test Transmissions between 1957 and 1964
I'm particularly looking for the Emley Moor Stills
Shibden Hall, Fountains Abbey, between 1957 and 1962 and Thornton Dale between 1962 and 1964
Winter Hill Esthwaite Water 1957 to 1962
After 1962 from Emley Moor on a Monday a still showing a mill, not sure where it was
Also I'm searching for Stills shown by Caradon Hill between 1957 and 1962
Plus the one shown from the Burnhope Transmitter
A friend has looked in his copy of G Douglas Bolton's Book about britain, and sadly the Emley Moor Pics are not there
Hoping someone can help me
Thanking very much

Interesting, I can't remember those, (I can however remember Art bars & tone on BBC TV)

All I can remember is the Picasso testcard and startup music & announcement sourced at the tx site.

On related theme, does anyone remember the sequences of colour images that slowly mixed to the next on BBC2?
It must have been an early experiment with digital graphics and only seemed to have 16 steps of brightness in the picture transitions. I'm not suggesting these were generated at the transmitter sites.

Hi Sharon, I recall those ITA trade test pictures very well, the BBC used picture slides as well, I remember Brixham Harbour, Loch Lomond, Paignton Harbour, Goodrington Sands, BBC TV Centre from Hammersmith Park + a few other anonymous locations, each picture bore the caption: BBC TEST TRANSMISSIONS. ITA's Lichfield transmitter screened four pictures in rotation, they were, Ashopton Viaduct, The River Trent, Ludlow Castle & Dinham Bridge and an anonymous view of a valley. I have a box of transmitter slides myself, so I'll see if there are any spare ones for you.

Hi thanks very much
I seem to remember seeing a view of a stream train coming on to the Royal Albert Bridge broadcast from ITA Caradon Hill
I certainly remember the BBC Slides marked BBC Test Transmission

Have you tried approaching the TV companies. They may have an archive, or be aware of enthusiasts websites or forums.

You are welcome I found them over 20 years ago when I as first became interested in the history of television especially behind the scenes.

I’ve not had so many dealings with them in recent years but never forgotten about them.

I’m wondering if it might be worth you following this link up?

http://ntlpa.org.uk/

As you will see it’s the pensioners website for staff formally employed by the IBA and it’s successors. The website’s ‘style’ seems very friendly to me and an email may unearth all sorts of info to you?

Here are a couple which I believe were transmitted by the ITA from Croydon.
The Test Card Circle group have a lot of information on BBC / ITA, IBA trade tests.

Hi Sharon, The picture featuring The Sphinx/Waterloo Bridge was featured in a mid-sixties TV commercial for Murphy TV sets starring on time BBC TV announcer Alex Macintosh who would say, "Is your set up to the Murphy standard, or do you get fuzziness, here?" As he pointed to one of the frequency gratings on a photo of Test Card C. A four page leaflet was also published by Murphy TV featuring the sphinx picture on the front cover.
