Default Taylor 45C Valve tester - Broken heater switch

Hi all,

The switch for selecting heater voltages in my Taylor 45C is broken. It didn't feel ok so I measured the voltages over the B9A socket and on setting 1V i get more than 100. It seems like a "locking" ring is broken and the switch is skipping a "step" in both directions.
Pardon my bad English, hope it makes sense. I have attached a picture and marked which part is broken.

It seems to be very difficult to fix unfortunately.

Does anyone know where to get a new one or any good ideas how to fix it?

Thanks in advance

Am I right in saying that it's an 18-way one-pole switch? Not a common part, but there is one on ebay at present??

Otherwise, you could try contacting nsf controls:

Hope this helps

They are repairable, I have used similar switches as donors to replace the parts necessary. being only a single wafer its not that daunting, often they get forced past the end stops which shears or bends metalwork on the rotor, this can usually be straightened.

Hi Freya,

I took it apart and saw that the ring (wafer?) that was sliding past the end stops was loose. It is only fixed in place by deforming the brass it is fastened at by punching it. I re-did this and also put some super glue there as an extra. Now it works and is aligned. Heater voltages are ok.

Many thanks,
