Default Tape Recording Cable for Kenwood R1000

Hi guys,
I recently aquired a lovely Kenwood R-1000 and it has a function to activate a tape recorder on power up. Does anyone know where I can get one? Its a DIN 7 at one end and standard audio 3.5 I think at the other end. I currently use a Roberts quarter speed cassette with voice activation, but I'd like to use it on my Sangean DAR-101 SD card recorder.
Many thanks
Steve

Apparently according to the manual, pins 1 & 4 on the DIN connect to the 3.5 jack, wonder if I could get one made?

Unlikely to find a 7 pin DIN to 3.5 jack cable to purchase but by getting the connectors would be easy to wire yourself.

A little surprised about the 3.5 jack, it would depend upon what type of connector is on the tape recorder and would have to be a compatible Remote signal interface, many Remote connectors at the tape recorder would be multi pin.

Have now seen the information referenced in the R-1000 Instruction Manual.

It does not reference a 3.5 jack, it says "connect the external control terminal of the tape recorder to the R-1000 Remote connector, pin 1 and pin 4".

Theres a picture of it I've seen somewhere, anyway my DAR101 SD recorder definitely has a 3.5 connection for remote control, and thats what Im wanting to use it on.

The Sangean DAR-101 looks an interesting product, unfortunately the User Manual download link from their website does not work.

Now found the manual from a different link to their site via a Google search.

Note that there are least 3 different 7 pin DIN connectors:-

1. 2 horizontal rows of 3 and 4 pins.

2. Circular array of 6 pins with a 7th centre pin.

3. Circular (270 degrees) array of 7 pins, this is the one in question.

...and the tricky part is the pin numbering sequence seems illogical until you see that you can plug a three-pin plug into a five or seven pin socket - then the pin numbers line up!

Yes and this also means that if Steve has a 5 pin DIN plug (180 degrees version) or a spare 5 pin DIN plug cable he could use that to make the required cable, i.e. then no need to purchase a 7 pin DIN plug.

I found a din 7 plug at work and my son soldered it up for me, works a treat! one pin to either audio connection and one to the centre earth pin.
