Default Hacker stereo speakers for GP42

I have not one, but two stereo speakers and wondered if it is possible to connect both of them to the stereo output on my Gondolier GP42?

Also, the volume pots are a little noisy. Just a squirt of wd40 or try to go further?

Many thanks from a newbie to this world! Stephen

A little more information on the stereo speakers, are they the Hacker AL42 units or some other speakers?
The volume control, yes Servisol not WD40, is the noisy control on the GP42 or the speakers?

Service info on the GP42 available from:-

Perhaps the OP may not realise that you cannot connect a (non-amplified) speaker, let alone two of them, to the Stereo output on the Hacker?

Hi, Just to be clear. I have two of the original stereo speakers and wanted to know if I could connect them both to the input on the Hacker turntable so it would then be a three speaker set-up. Thanks, Stephen

P.S Apologies for the late reply!

If you read back through this Thread, and my Post #5 above, you will see we need to know what kind of speakers these are. Are they Passive or Amplified speakers? A photo would definitely help.

Hi, Edward. Apologies, I thought the original speakers I referred to were all amplified. Thanks, Stephen

Well you are lucky to have two AL42 speakers, but for Stereo you only need the GP42 and one AL42 unit. That was what these were designed for. There's no point in trying to add a 3rd speaker as you will not ever get true Stereo - but more significantly, there would be no signal to feed to it.

I'm not bothered about true stereo I want to be able to use the turntable for the occasional party which would require more volume. Ideally I would have four speakers. Regarding the signal; If I take a splitter from the output x2 that could potentially give me the chance to connect four separate speakers. This is the question I originally posted. Is it possible to run several amplified speakers without damaging the components of the turntable? Thanks Edward, Stephen

It will not damage the GP42 to add more amplified speakers if you can create a suitable signal. However, adding one or two more speakers will not increase the "Volume" at all.
All it will do is alter the method of sound distribution.

To paraphrase Jaws, " Your gonna need a bigger amp"! More speaker's will not make the music louder, it just divides the available output between the speakers.

That's the answer I (didn't) need, Ken! What a shame, I really fancied a huge stack of Hacker speakers. Appreciate yours and Edwards advice. Regards, Stephen
