Default Kenwood R-1000 Serial number

Hi guys,
trying to date my Kenwood R-1000, cant figure it out, serial number is: 0090987.
Anyone out there know how old it is?
Mid 80's at a guess.
Thanks
Steve

9th September 1987? Although RigPix said production stopped in 1985 and of course everything on the internet is true. :

I bought my R2000 about then IIRC.

Lift the lids and check the ICs. Most equipment production occurs no later than a year
after the date on the chips.

But surely they would have made more than one radio that day?
Hence it would need a different serial number?

The serial number of mine is 1070587, but I've no idea of it's age as it came to me second hand.
