Default Pye Fenman 2

Has anybody had problems with the FM tuner on this set? I have tried all the usual lines of approach, valves changed, voltages and component values but still dead. The AM side works perfectly, any thoughts?

Have you confirmed it's the tuner and not a fault in the IF or detector?

Certainly the secondary of the ratio detector could cause the fault. An OC winding in the other transformers would I think cause AM problems, but I have not had chance to check the circuit.

My original question was brought about by the poster not being explicit on having tested the IF and detector, perhaps it has been tested, I just did not know.

Thanks for the various suggestions, these will all be checked as soon as the shed is a bit warmer. It seemed that the FM oscillator was not working, when putting the 'scope on the anode there was nothing but it was drawing the correct current.

Presume your scope can measure approx 85MHz (some can, many can't) and also confirm putting the scope on the anode doesn't stop the oscillator?

Finally had to admit defeat on this one and return it to the owner after trying all of your suggestions and getting nowhere. Thanks for trying, Robert.

The owner has now asked the question I was dreading ie. is there someone I can pay to repair it? I have tried Mike Barker without success, so does anybody have any suggestions? The set is in Aldershot, Hants. Robert.
