Re: Akai 1800 Check Out
Fitted quick disconnects to the speaker cables to make it a lot easier to reconnect/disconnect.

Will be soon, as always got sidetracked on other things and additionally family matters.

Re: Akai 1800 Check Out
I asked for this closed Thread to be re-opened as I plan soon to get back and progress the 1800 (I can hear Aub thinking "about time"
Co-incidentally today received PM from Australia asking for some 1800 information that I will provide via this Thread. David |

Re: Akai 1800 Check Out
Photos attached show the 18 way connector that connects the electrical chassis wiring to the edge connector on the 8 track cartridge tape player unit. This is to support issue in Australia where connector has broken and all the wires have come out of the connector.
The connector pins are numbered 1 to 18, in first photo pin 1 with red wire is on the left hand side. In second photo the connector is rotated so that pin 1 with the red wire is on the right hand side. Pins 4 & 5 are linked at the connector with black wire going to pin 5, pins 10 & 11 are linked together with brown wire going to pin 11 & pins 17 & 18 are linked with mauve wire going to pin 18. All the connections agree as far as I can see with the 1800L schematic. Note that as referenced in an earlier Post some variants of the 1800 particularly Roberts clones may use a different 8 track deck, although the external wiring looks probably the same. But also note that the schematic for the Roberts 1725-8L III identifies the pins of the 18 way connector the opposite way, i.e. it identifies pin 1 (red wire) as pin 18 and so on until pin 18 (mauve wire) is identified as pin 1. Re: Akai 1800 Check Out
Hopefully you can get the connector wiring sorted OK.
My tape counter (ref Post 40) also has the crumbling metalwork but not as bad as yours. David |
