Default GE Monogram Toaster

Hi all,

Just wanted to show you this nice toaster/griller that was given to me (in a bad state) by the elderly neighbour. After dismantling and cleaning, then sorting out a frayed cord, it works perfectly. Slightly alarming that the elements glow so bright and hot....definitely won't leave it unattended!

Any idea of age of this? 60's?

Cheers,

Nick

I had one of those in the early 70's. Worked well and did both sides at the same time. They did glow brightly.

Maybe that's enough to put to bed the first question that came to me, which was along the lines of "are you sure it was designed for 240 volt mains?". I wasn't aware that GE's Monogram range had ever been distributed in the UK.

It doesn't look like any toaster sold in the US. The electrical ratings should be stated on the bottom. It might be a product for export to other 220/240 volt locations. If it were a 120 volt unit, it would've burn out long before.
