Default Philetta BD 244U knob.

Hope someone can help... looking for a white knob for Philetta.
If anyone has or knows of a scrap junker, I will gladly buy the knob and cover P&P.

Photo of absent knob can bee seen below... Left hand side, rear knob.

PS. I don't have the radio in my possession yet, this is the sellers photo.
I suspect that knob style was uses elsewhere in the Philips range, so hopefully it wont be too hard to locate one.

Cheers
Ray

Hi Ray.
I will have a good look in my box of knobs and see what I can come up with, as although I have a similar model radio to what you have (different model number), I am sure that I had some similar control knobs from a scrap set.
Will keep you posted!
Cheers

Hi Ray.
I have found an outer knob that is similar to your wanted one for Philips radio.
P.M me if still interested?

Hi Mike,

Thanks for checking.

I have uploaded a front and rear image of the right hand knob I have here.
I think the brown band may have been shiny gold at one point, not sure.

See what you have.

Hi Ray.
Many thanks for the photographs.
The one of the front looks similar, but the one taken of the back is not. Mine has no grub screw and nut fitting, but slotted plastic fitting.
Will have another look for you to see if there are any others.

Cheers Mike,
I wonder if a grub screw can be added to a slotted type.
Let me measurements the spindle diameter to help narrow the search. I'll do that tonight.

Hi Ray
I can also try and photograph the back of the knob, if you want?

Hi Mike,
The knob spindle is 8mm (0.31").
Knob itself is 36mm wide (1.4").

Hope that helps.

Cheers
Ray

Hi Ray
The photograph of the outer knob is attached.
The hole diameter is 5 mm
The knob measures (from behind) 15 mm maximum
and 10 mm minimum from the back to the "shoulder".
Do you think that this would suffice?
Cheers
Mike

My radio is a BD293A from what I remember, and its knob fitting is different to this one, although the diameter should be similar to yours and my radio. The measurements apart from the hole diameter are the length protruding from the back of the knob.

Hi Mike,
And is the diameter of the knob close to 36mm?
Can you post a photo of the front ?

The spindle diameter of 5mm might be ok if there is enough material to allow a bore out.
The depth might be an issue unless it can be cut down.

PS, I think may have found an original knob from a Dutch seller, I've emailed him to see.

Hi Ray.
The diameter dimension of the one that I sent you in the photograph is 30 mm exactly. However, there is another knob that is 33 mm diameter but with a shorter stem of 10 mm length. The hole diameter is the same.
Cheers

Hi Mike the shorter stem and wider diameter sounds like a better fit.
do you have a photo of that one?

Thanks
Ray

Thanks Mike,
my other lead didn't work out, he has nothing suitable in stock.

So I decided to experiment with 3D printing a set... results attached.

Not a perfect copy, but functional and might seem ok to the untrained eye.

It's missing the gold trim and is not the correct colour, but gets me out of a hole for now.

Hi Ray.
Here are the photographs of the front and back of the alternative knob.
Hope this can be useful?
Pleased to hear of your experiments.
Cheers

Thanks Mike
The front looks like a good match, and the rear might just be modifiable to take an 8mm spindle with grub screw, do you think that it would take it?

I'm still working on the chassis, almost ready to power up in a few days.

Hi Ray.
I am sure that it would be possible to modify it.
Alternatively, have you tried the Netherlands & German radio sites?
