Default Philips B6X43A/01 Valve Radio. Balance problems.

Hi guys.

I fitted a set of replacement speakers in my set today. All seemed to be going well so I fitted it all back together and found a small spring on the floor. Grr! After a few checks I think I've found where it's from as the balance control is pulling to the right all time and I had to wedge it with cardboard to keep it level. I think this spring has got something to do with it.

Does anyone know how do you refit these springs? Anyone know?

Thanks Mike.

Hi Mike,
As I have said in my email, I am not sure how to fix that witout looking at it.
If you study the chassis carefully you might want to look out for any small holes or nothches where the spring may have been located.
My Philips set does not have any kind of spring on the balance, otherwise I would have taken a photo and sent it you.

Michael.

Hi Michael.

I cannot work it out but think it's best left to someone who knows about these sets.

I have sent you an email.

Cheers, Mike.

If the balance control is pulling to the right, then a force must be acting on it. I would imagine there is another spring still connected to it in some way

How does this work? A balance control which sprang back to the centre position would be useless it had some kind of locking device.

Hi guys.

Just an update, found out in end the balance control was faulty due to the fibre washer breaking down not the spring, that was from elsewhere in set, but thanks for all your kind help.

Please close this mods.

Thanks, Mick.
