Question Restoring Old Recording from Reel tape

Hello , everyone I am wondering is it possible to restore old recording , I have couple of recoreded reel tapes they are intact and stored inside a cabinet since 1965 , If I manage to bring a reel to reel recorder do you think I can play back the old recorgings in these tapes .

Any thoughts you would have be greatly appreciated .

Hi,
I do this often from both reel to reel and cassette recordings.
I find it best to digitize the recording and then use filters to remove background hiss etc. There are several programs you can purchase that will do this but I find that for most cases a simple freeware program called "Audacity" is quite adequate. A web search should give you an address for a free download.
Have fun,
Mick
