Default Siera SA7288T restored

Just completed restoring a Siera SA7288T which I scored off Ebay.
The radio has a 1966 date sticker and is a clone of later production versions of the Philips l4x26T that use an AF117 in place of an OC45 as the last IF transistor.

The radio was working when I received it but it was dirty and the cabinet was literally coming apart. Moreover someone had installed a transformer in the radio and in doing so they replaced the Phono jack with a AC inlet jack. And the Power button had snapped off.

Sorting through all this took a long time. There's still a missing Siera logo on the front that I have to recreate and the replacement battery box that I procured does not fit because the bottom of the wooden cabinet is a bit warped. But overall I'm pretty pleased with the end result

Default Re: Siera SA7288T restored

Hi,

Just wanted to mention a couple of additional things.

All the electrolytics were replaced with caps of the same size. The dial was cleaned up using 1500 grit sandpaper followed by 3M cutting compound.

The radio sounds like it could do with an IF tuneup but I don't dare do so because of the fragile nature of the IFTs.
