Default Anyone remember puratone?

Having a nostalgic look back through my old photos, i had a picture of my teenage bedroom circa 1978ish, i was using a puratone 405 set as my telly,
never seen one since (wait for 50 posts of "i got one of those") has anyone got one?
Must have had a band 111 conversion at some point, as i remember watching the sweeney on itv....

Default Re: Anyone remember puratone?

Puratone Rentals! Great sets and I used to clear loads of them from Top Rank in the late 60's. They had a huge showroom in Fife Road Kingston-Upon- Thames later to become Top Rank Television and later still Granada. The sets were very stylish with a red mask surround and cream knobs. Plessey chassis with Mullard AW43-80 tubes. VERY reliable, as good as an RGD DEEP SEVENTEEN and that is a hard act to follow. I used to sell them for £18-10/- and they flew off the shelves faster than I could pack them into my Ford 100E van. Strangely enough I picked up a Pageant version at the NVCF, identical other than the red mask. Mice have nibbled the frame output transformer destroying the primary....I'm sure I will be able to cobble something in place of it. Regards, John.
