German model AC/DC set?
Discovered an open circuit resistor on the ballast resistor of this set. Valve line-up is the same as a Bush DAC10. Can anybody identify the value of the green resistor that had been previously fitted to replace the coil resistive wire section on the ballast core? I've fitted a 180 Ohm in it's place which seems to work fine, but would be better to know the correct value. Also, 5W seems to be an overkill, as there is only a voltage drop of about 5V across it?

Re: German model AC/DC set?
It would help if you gave the make and model of the radio.

Re: German model AC/DC set?
The green resistor looks like a typical 2.5 - 3W rated wirewound. Was it open circuit too? If not, why replace it?
Can't make out any value from the picture. Looks like one of these: https://www.radiomuseum.org/r/lorenz_mignon.html

Re: German model AC/DC set?
Looking at the circuit for a Lorenz set in RM with same valve lineup suggests 170R for that resistor. 180R should be fine.

Re: German model AC/DC set?
I don't have the cabinet on hand. I've asked the owner to send me a pic to help ID. The green resistor must have been fitted when the wire wound section that it replaced went open. By the time I had a go, the green resistor had also gone open. 180R might have been a lucky guess on my part! My earlier reading of the voltage was when the variac was set to 220V, but the mains here is at 240V. I now get a reading of 20,5V, so 2,33W. Think I'll leave the replacement resistor as is. Thanks for the info so far.
