The Queen's Speech.
Just wondering - if you listened to The Queen's Speech today, what did you listen to it on?
In my case I used my Eddystone 840A, as I'm sure in times past many expatriate Brits, faraway servants of the Empire/Commonwealth and Dominions, and those serving in HM Forces would have done. A rounded, subtle and measured performance with a mix of gravitas overlaid with a hint of optimism. Yes, considering her years the Eddystone did well ! Her Majesty sounded rather good, too! https://www.vintage-radio.net/images/smilies/smiley.gif [Must admit, there's something impressive about listening to one who became Queen nearly a decade-and-a-half before I was born, on a radio which also predates me by a few years] Last edited by G6Tanuki; 25th Dec 2015 at 6:58 pm. |

Re: The Queen's Speech.
I must confess I listened (watched) on the family LG flatscreen TV
When I look at my pre-war sets sitting quietly on the shelves I often wonder what world events they have reported on. I suspect most of them will have relayed Neville Chamberlain's "..... and consequently this country is at war with Germany" speech.

Re: The Queen's Speech.
It was on our kitchen TV too, but three children, other halves, and four grandchildren meant that I didn't hear much. Just watched it on my workshop computer in peace!

Re: The Queen's Speech.
I listened on my Bush DAC90A - I thought it was roughly right for the Coronation date
