Default Repairing books

I have a few BBC Year/Hand Books from 1928 onwards (the pre war ones are much the better) with varying tattyness of the spine covers. In a fit of pique I merrily smothered the loose spine covers insides with PVA, wiped off the exess and wrapped them with cling film. Two hours later they are whole again, not perfect will do though.
