Hi Peter,
you'll probably spot it during your final checking exercise, but minor labelling issue - U21 LM358

Cheers

It may turn out that I only supply the pcb, I have been in contact with the seller on e-bay who supplied the kits for the Minimod and he is happy to sell the coil kits.

If I buy the coils I they come in quantities of 4 or 5, I would have to buy them and then put them together as kits.

Either way pcbs will be available separately if required.

LM358 is correct, a dual opamp that works on a single power rail.

The component numbering is deliberate. I have kept the original numbering for the Haigh part to keep it consistant.
The Timebase components start at 20 to differentiate.
I have also added two 0.1uF caps to the regulator as is good practice, these are numbered C100 and C101, again to differenciate them from the original design.

I have added links to the coils. In the original design the secondaries are connected in series with the primary to increase the inductance. To maintain maximum flexibility with respect to coils the link between primary and secondary is now by a link. If required the link can be omitted and the end of the primary linked to 0V.

Hi Peter,
OK, but on that diagram U21 looks suspiciously like a 555 Timer, so I'm guessing that it has been mis-labelled in some way?

Cheers

Ah, that U21
You are right of course, it is a 555 timer, I had two U21s
Thanks I will correct it.

I have now checked the schematic for errors, by checking against the originals and using KiCad's internal error checker. Found a few as I expected.

Revised schematic attached.

Hi Peter,
just been looking over your latest schematic and noticed a couple of things:-

CN20/CN22 both ends of R30 labelled ACW?

C7 now labelled as 270pF rather than 220pF in Haigh design?

Keep up the good work!

Cheers

Thanks Chris, well spotted.
CN20 is the CW end of R30, CN22 the ACW

270pf is just my poor copying, it should be 220pF but actually is not that critical.

Had to take a few days off the project to do some jobs for SWMBO.
Footprints assigned, netlist generated, rats nest created and started placing components.
I have tried to keep the the wobbulator section as close to the original as possible.

Attached screen shots
The rats nest, looks very confusing and the next step is to place components in the approximate positions on the pcb.
The wobbulator component placement - now I need to place the time base and regulator components, then I can start laying down the tracks.

I have now finished the pcb, just one final check, generate the gerbers and order the boards.

I have 11 people who have expressed an interest in taking a board and kit so I will order at least 20.

The board size is 120 by 100mm and the mounting holes are 104 by 84mm

I attach a print of the board, rear copper is green, front is red and silk screen is yellow. There will alo be green solder masks front and back.

That looks superb, well above my pay grade.

I have now ordered 20 pcbs from JLCpcb. They were slightly more expensive as the board size was above the 100 x 100mm special offer size but were still only £2 a board including shipping and taxes. I don't know how they do them for that price.

I will now draw up the interconnect diagram showing how to connect pots, switches etc.
I have already drawn a frontpanel, posted in the thread I linked to at the start of this thread.
I can supply the frontpanel drawing in Splan7 format if anyone wants it.

I will also start ordering the other parts for the kit, I now plan to include the coils, varicap and other active components.

I will post the board and kit offer with final price in the appropriate place on the forum.

Me neither! That's still a great price for something of that sophistication. Thanks for all the effort you've put into this, it deserves to be a popular and appreciated project,

Thank you for your hard work on this project. A lot of people will benefit from it.
If a full kit is available I would like to order one, otherwise a PCB, coils and varcaps would be great.

I will add you to the list John.
That's 14 boards spoken for, I ordered 20 so thats 6 still available.

Thanks Steve and David, both added to the list.

For clarification the "kit" will be the board, inductors, Varicap, transistors, ICs and FETs.
I may look at also supplying the pcb mounted pots as they are spectrol multiturn type.

Passives such as resistors and capacitors and the components external to the board such as Pots and switches are up to the constructor to source.
