Default Virtual Valve Museum is closing

Just a quick note for anyone that is interested. After many decades of collecting I have decided it is time to stop. The website valvecollector.uk will cease and the collection will be disposed of. Thanks for all the support and interest over the years!

Sorry to her that.

To avoid confusion http://www.r-type.org/ continues.

Looks like it would be a pity to have yet another source of well documented information disappear from the web. I would be willing to host the site as an archive, though I don't know if I'm able to do so under the original .uk domain (which is preferrable, will have to look that up if there's interest)

I'd also be interested in hosting the website, either with the existing domain if it's transferable or on a different domain. It would be made clear that it is an archive which will not receive any updates or corrections, with all contact information etc removed. Please message me if interested.

I have no interest in the physical collection though.

I'm also very disappointed to hear this news, it is one of my regular 'go to' sites! I do hope someone can keep it as an archive.

Yes, it will have been, but it's not wise to rely on that.

Indeed, plus their archives are often incomplete (especially missing images and broken links etc) although better than nothing and it's good that they are trying to preserve websites that would otherwise be lost.

Some good news - part of the message on the home page:

The website has been prepared for archiving and will be transferred shortly.

It's still all there but I removed all my scripting and database work to make it fit for archiving. That killed the images on the front page. Paul is kindly sorting the archiving out.

Very good to hear that it's being preserved!

Having the site remain in the UK is also the best solution with regards to the domain name.

Yes I'm working on it with valvecollector now.

It will have the various categories listed on the home page which will go to pages the same as now, and also a link to a full list of devices in the menu. Everything else (links, about etc) will go, so it is the valves themselves, the heart of the website, that is archived.

End of an era - I have just changed his username from "valvecollector" to "Jeremy M0RVB" as he requested!

Website archive and domain transfer should be completed tomorrow.

Now completed, however it may take a while for the DNS update to propagate, depending on your internet provider's DNS server. If the valvecollector.uk website homepage looks like the attached then you have reached my archive.

Although it says it won't be updated, if you find any dead or incorrect links etc over the next week or so please let me know and I will fix or remove them.
