Default BVWS Membership renewals - going well !

Hello to all BVWS members and also non members.

It is the time of year when BVWS membship renewals are being sent in by the bucket load each day.

To those people who have already sent in their 2012 renewals, my thanks for being so quick and allowing me to get this onerous task well under way.

We now have over two thirds of the membership renewed for 2012 and beyond.
About 400 members out of 1500 left to send in the renewal forms.

If you have not yet sent in your renewal, then please try to get it back to me this month.

The first BVWS Bulletin for 2012 is expected to be sent out at the end of February which will have your BVWS Membership card with it.

If you are not yet a BVWS member, now is the time to become one.
Just print off the Membership Apllication form from the BVWS website and send it in.
You will get a bumper "welcome pack" with all of our CD's and DVD's as well as the latest Bulletin and a 2012 Vintage Radio Calendar etc...

All the best to everyone,

Mike...

Hi Mike,

Do you still include the "BVWS The first 25 Years" for newcomers or are they out of stock? Well worth Joining just for that one CD, (the duck egg blue coloured one). I often refer back to articles. I have the index printed off, so I know what information I have at a glance.

It's the first 20 years (not 25) and it is included in the new members pack, along with the two Trader sheet disks, the 405 Alive complete disk and a few of the film DVDs.

When I spoke to Graham at Harpenden he mentioned they'd run out of the 20 Years of the Bulletin CD. If it is or becomes available again I'd certainly like a copy.

I've often heard mention in various threads of this 20 year index CD and how useful it is but wasn't given one with my initial bundle when I joined the BVWS a few years ago.

I'll check with Mike.

There have been discussions about putting the content of the four CDs plus more recent bulletins and some other info (we have a complete run of pre-war Broadcaster service data for example) on a DVD-ROM, but I'm not sure how definitive that is.

Hello All,

We certainly have run out of the "First 20 Years of the BVWS Bulletin" CD's.

In fact we have not had any for some time now.

As Paul says, we are planning on consolidating all of the early CD's and some other info onto one DVD disk (which will help me a lot when posting everything out).

This IS likely to happen this year, so when it does, I'll let everyone know and those who do not have the early disk can request it.

Best regards,

Mike...

KEEP THE RENEWALS COMING IN..........

Thanks for that clarification Mike.

BTW my earlier post wasn't intended to be critical in any way, it was just a statement of fact.

I think all the BVWS members realise the amount of time and effort put into running the society by yourself and the other committee members and are very appreciative for all your hard work.

Regards

Hi.
Well I recently rejoined after a 4 year? gap, 2011's last Bulletin was excellent with plenty in it to keep me going. I only received one DVD though. The 20 years of the BVWS and the 405 Alive disc would have been nice as I don't have these ones.

Hi Trevor,

I only sent you the latest DVD and not all of the others because I thought that you would have had all of those the last time you joined from Graham.

If you send me a PM with what you "Do have" , I will arrange to get all of the rest to you.

We do not currently have any of the 20 years of BVWS Bulletins though.

Best regards,

Mike...

The DVDs are on the website here http://www.bvws.org.uk/publications/bulletins/dvds.php so you can see what you are missing. I haven't added the most recent one yet though.

After many years loitering on this site and dabbling with vintage equipment I have finally become a BVWS member. My welcome pack arrived this weekend. I can only re-iterate what others have said, superb quality and content. Any plans that I had were shelved as I immerged myself in the publications and DVD’s.
Now a member, I’ll look forward to meeting others at “members only” events that were previously unavailable to me. I hope to see you soon...

Hi.

My membership pack arrived recently thanks and I am pleased to be a new member. The magazine is first class in content and quality and the accompanying CD ROMs and DVDs are equally good.
Looking forward to the next magazine issue.

Looking forward to going "home" and a copy of the Bulletin waiting for me!
I definetely should have all the DVDs but the link put up by Paul will be helpfull in finding them.

Occasionally I buy the Wire Mag which deals in musical exotica and electronica of all descriptions and periods. It includes, in its very wide remit, things like the Radiophonic Workshop [wayback], Les Paul and more recently a reference to F C Judd and electronic music [I don't think they know about PW etc]. They also do offers [CDs] and have built up a number of these over the years. Like the Bulletin, these are offered as an encouragement to new subscribers. They are illustrated on the Subscription page to this effect.

Of course the Bulletin is Subscription only and does not appear elsewhere [except Rallies] so the "passing trade" is via the internet. Perhaps a similar set up might help on the BVWS webb site?
A view of the DVD's when you look at the Subscription Section might be irresistible!

Looking through these DVDs I realise that I have never had issue No 1. Would it be possible to get it please.

Thanks,

Jim

Email Mike on the membership email address and ask for a copy. We may have run out though, and are only offering the DVDs until stocks are exhausted (we won't be getting further batches made).
