Actually fell in the hospital... oh dear and I thought I'd had a scary week.

Yikes! A couple of dry joints methinks. At least I found a couple. I presume that's what it is, I will have a test tomorrow. This preamp is still very difficult for me to get a soldering iron into it's depths, I dread to think what a 22 preamp is like to work on!

Actually I found the Quad 22 surprisingly easy to work on. After removing the front panel and knobs, you can desolder half a dozen connections, remove 2 screws and the potentiometer mounting nuts and take the entire tone control section (above the chassis) out. It's a bit tight under the chassis but I've done a lot worse.
