Default Radios for auction at Tennants, Leyburn

Hi Folks, just an early reminder that there will be an auction at Tennants (Leyburn) in May of a collection of approx 400 radios and 1 or 2 TV's; these will date from the 30's to the 60's.

They are the collection of a recently deceased local guy and I suspect most have been restored, but not used for many years.

Tennants seem to have this type of auction every 2 months or so. The present one, due on the 30th has a pair of early Chackophone sets as one of the lots.

There is a rather magnificent Burndept Ethodyne with a pair of Ethovox horn speakers

And for Bakelite fans a Defiant M900
Cheers

Hi Gents, I've been waiting to see this come out.
It was the lifetime collection of a collector in N Yorks, most of the sets will have been well restored a good few years back and should not need much doing to them.
Proceeds go to his family, so have a trip out to Tennants in Leyburn and enjoy their cafe and the sale. Also a nice area of the country to visit.
Much better than an on line bid and you get to see the sets as they actually are.

Hi Gents, I've just had a closer look at the catalogue for the sale on Wed 15 May.
Most, but not all lots are pictured, but all are well described
This comprises over 60 lots, the collection of a local man who was both a school tech and a service engineer. Most of these sets will have been repaired many years ago so should only need a gentle awakening.
They have been grouped into lots so there is a selection for everybody at a variety of prices.
There are several lots of transistor sets for those wanting to start out as well as test equipment, output and other valves, service data and about 30 magic eyes of various types.
It is well worth a day out (but it will be on line as well). The cafe is good and you are in great countryside.

Proceeds going to his widow who is a lovely lady.
