Default Repair of Pye Q.AC 2

A Pye Q.AC2 previously restored but now needing a mains transformer or rewind.

I have a friend who has a few pre war radios in his house. The house is all equipped as pre war. He uses the radios through a Spitfire. They have all been previously restored by an engineer some time ago.
He uses the sets for an hour or so at a time and never unattended following advice given by the chap that restored them.

This set was accidentally left on and when my friend returned to the room it was full of acrid fumes, He has sent me a couple of pictures and from them it is obvious that the mains transformer has burnt out. Unfortunately the chap that restored them now has heath issues and is unable to do any more work.

Pre war radios are not my thing I don't have the facilities to rewind a mains transformer so it isn't something I want to take on.
He is prepared to travel to get the set repaired he really is a nice chap, a real gent so I said I would ask on here to see if anyone would be able to do it or recommend anyone. Does anyone know if the Dulwich museum still does repairs?
Any help or advice gratefully received.
Please PM me if you can help I can pass on Gary's phone number.
Rich

Rewinds are Mike Barker's territory - once rewound, fitting the rewound transformer will be well within your capabilities!

Hi Mike thanks for the suggestion but I don't think Mike B has much time lately to do rewinds. I gave him a transformer at Retrotech to rewind and after 7 months it wasn't ready and the owner decided to make his own arrangements. So I had to get the transformer back not done. Mike explained he was having difficulties with the logistics of the rewinding workshop at the moment so fair enough... But I don't want to have this set hanging around for months. I would rather stick to doing (my own) tellies!
Hence my request, but yes if I could get it rewound or find a replacement I could do it I suppose....

Certainly Dulwich doesn't do repairs any more.

There's always Rob Howard in Norwich?

Thanks Mike, I have passed the information on to Gary. Hopefully that is a solution.

I should point out that when I replied to Mike's post Ed's post wasn't visible. I don't want it to look like I ignored him. I have sent Ed a PM to arrange to get the Transformer rewound.
Thanks again!
