I agree that the glass diodes don't look like any power rectifiers I've ever seen. They may be signal diodes of some sort, but zeners are the most likely thing. Replacing a zener with a 1N4007 is unlikely to end well, but the unit may actually still 'work' despite the PSU not working properly.

This guesswork is not a good approach to fault finding.
