Default 80 loop ant.

hi.

Im building a 80 loop, or hope to.. I've got a book (Ham Radio Today May 1994) it has just the thing Im looking for. only it uses a "helical hairpin" coil. I've never heard of that before. It gives it as 9 turns 16 gauge. but no diameter. This antenna would be idial for field days.

Any info please.

Hello Pete,

I'd not heard of this but a momentary internet surf refers only to DNA structures. Something article writers can use when they tire of telling us how difficult toroids are!

Regards Ant

I think that I may have some information on this on my PC at home. As I'm at work at the moment I'll have a look this evening.

I'm assuming you're looking to transmit using this antenna. I'm in the process of finishing an active loop for multi band use but that's recieve only.

Regards,

I don't know if this is the sort of thing you were looking for Peter, but it looks like an interesting project.

It's on the back burner as a future project when I have the time.
