Default Grundig Satellit 600 dead

Hi, I have aquired a Grundig satellit 600. It doesn’t work so hoping some more knowledgeable people can help me find the issue?

The radio powers on but the lcd display only shows the time.... the volume turns up a slight hiss in the speaker. The band select buttons do nothing and no change in the lcd. Fm has a very very slight louder hiss but barely.

So power there of sorts but obviously the receiver itself is doing nothing.

Any ideas where to start? Anything common to check with this radio?

Thanks in advance

Carl.

I would certainly check the 30V DC-DC converter for starters.
Replace all 100uF electrolytic capacitors: C951, C953 & C955

Other than that your guess is as good as anyones...

Ok i got further with it today.

I found this post

https://www.radiomuseum.org/forum/gr..._lwmwswfm.html

This is the same symptoms as my radio, I also measured voltage at pin 1C so cut the wire going to pin 2 stv603. This has got the radio working but very intermittently! I have to switch the radio on and off several times. Most times it starts with the lcd showing garbled information, sometimes the clock then all of a sudden it will start up!

The fault was simple in the end, corrosion to the memory backup contacts which was sending it loopy! I cleaned them up really well and all was perfect!
