Default Uher 4200 report stereo IC bottom panel screw

The unit I restored didn't have a bottom plate screw. It looks like it would turn and lock. Anyone know if it's possible to source one or if substitute possible?

Thanks

I believe it's all plastic. It may have broken for that reason. I had the same problem. I think I just used a standard metric screw and washer.

I think you mean the underside/bottom cover that is retained by a single quarter turn locking screw.

The first 2 photos show the metal version with retaining circlip as fitted to a 4200 (not sure at the moment which exact model).

The 3rd and 4th photos show a plastic version from a 4000 Report Monitor, I cannot see how to remove the large plastic washer to be able to remove the plastic locking screw ?

Unfortunately I do not know of source for either version or a possible subsitute.

@Timtape Plastic has a habit of doing that especially in that sort of role.

@DMcMahon You may not know of a source but those photos along with dimensions means I should be able to fabricate one. 3d print in metal or mod a metal rod.

Thanks for the help!

Hi @TIMTAPE

That's why we don't use plastic for some applications

Hi @DMcMahon, your photos give me a good understanding of how it works and the dimensions. I should be able to 3d print in metal or fabricate.

Thanks!

From a 4400 Report Stereo IC which I assume should be the same as the 4200.

Photo attached showing the nylon 1/4 turn chassis female fastener.

Excellent that you can 3D print it, I wish I had that ability and knowledge.

If you need any more details/dimensions then let me know.

Try looking for Dzuz quarter turn fasteners on eBay...

I'm not sure if you have the screw or the nylon clip missing. The screw is metal and retained as shown in DMcMahon's pictures.

In 2011 I bought one of those nylon quarter-turn clips from Johann Gruber at Uher Service.

The website's still up and there's a new one at uher-service.com, too.

SDS Uher Service have sent me Uher cassette parts in the last year.

I think it'd be worth contacting one of them.
